The East 14th Booklet was a project for my typography II class in Spring of 2022 where I had to go around my town’s main street and document all the typography and fonts I could in a limited section of the road. The assignment consisted of the booklet itself which has a total of 24 pages, along with 2 different posters and mailling stickers that were supposed to be sent to fake guests attending the project’s book launch.
For the book itself, you will see that there is a strong use of yellow and blue. The reason why is because the San Leandro flag has yellow and white in it and I thought that blue was a good complimentary color. The booklet is split and organized into sections based on the type of text that was documented, such as san-serif, serif, metal type, display type and the type that each store used. Along with all that is a map in the being to mark points of interest. Along with the booklet itself, there were two posters in which each had their own alignment. The first poster is meant to be an axial alignment and the second was meant to be a random alignment. The mailing stickers have a photo with the event colors on it on the left with the name of the attendee, their occupation and their address.
